It is important because buyers place their bids based on your description. Your description acts as a guide on how much they are willing to bid. You should take pictures of both the interior and exterior of the car. If you have taken a picture, for example, of a dent, it is no longer an unknown factor to the buyer. Finally, the dealer is entitled to cancel the sale if your description does not fit the actual condition of the car.
